Mould Treatments
DID YOU KNOW?
Mould spores are in the air long before they become visible on surfaces? We have completed training and acquired certification to treat the mould issue, not just clean the mould you see. Mould grows anywhere with 60% or higher humidity and dust that sits undisturbed. Cleaning the mould that you see does not kill the mould source and the airborne spores. 1 in 4 people do not have antibodies to deal with mould, particularly the young, elderly, those with lung conditions and those with weakened immune systems. The airborne mould spores are inhaled and can cause many health conditions. This is called Dampness and Mould Hypersensitivity Syndrome. If you think you may be affected, try to keep track of when and where you are when you feel worse (e.g. do you feel better when away from the home, and worse when you return home?). 40% of homes in Australia have design flaws which trap condensation in cavities in the home structure as our building codes do not measure condensation.
What the treatment is:
A technician will organize a time with you to attend the home and set up a specialised oil diffuser. This will run for 24 hours (in extreme circumstances it may need to run 2-3 times and will require subsequent visits to reset each 24 hour period). Setting the diffuser is only a 5-10 minute attendance. While the diffuser is running you should avoid the room, never staying more than 15 minutes. Following the oil treatment our technician/s will attend to wipe down the room to remove the dead mould spores. This is a wipe clean only. Mould stains may remain on walls etc. (think of grass stains on white clothes – although washed, the stain remains). A further quote can be given for us to clean the staining should it be required. The second attendance will take much longer, and varies depending on the area size and inclusions.
What to do before treatment:
It is imperative that the source of the mould is fixed. Source a builder to inspect and repair any issues in roof and ceiling cavity. Put as many items as you can into closed cupboards and draws or remove from the room as dead mould spores in the air will fall onto all surfaces. Remove soft furnishings if necessary (mattress/couch/curtains) or cover them with tarp/s or sheets (which must be washed if reused). The more items able to be removed from the room, the cheaper the clean will be as there will be less for us to wipe down.
What to do after the treatment:
Keep the temperature between 19-21 degrees. Air conditioners set outside these temperatures will create condensation.
Dust wet areas very regularly. Keep bathrooms clean and dry, hang towels fanned out, not bunched up, not over doors and handles or on the floor. Ventilate, ventilate, ventilate. Use exhaust fans and open windows. Use dehumidifiers.
NOTE: We can come in and only do the treatment, leaving a client or occupant to wipe down all surfaces themselves, however this is not recommended, as we are using a secondary product to ensure the mould is removed thoroughly. A general spray and wipe will not provide the same results. Likewise, we can come in and only wipe clean the surface mould, however this will not treat the actual issue and the mould spores will likely regrow. We provide no guarantee when the full treatment plan as above is not followed.
DISCLAIMERS:
The information provided is not a substitute for medical counselling with a licensed health practitioner. Only using the specified protocol and the products provided will deliver the solution. No responsibility is taken for any deviation from the instructions given and components provided. It is the clients’ responsibility to address the source of the damp conditions that created the mould in the first instance. Nature’s Defence solution kills the mould that’s present. Ultimately if the conditions that created mould in the first instance are not corrected, it will reappear. The client/occupant is responsible for the diffuser while it is left unattended in your home. If the diffuser is dropped, broken, or tipped on its side allowing oil into the motor, you will be charged for the replacement ($380). We offer a guarantee that the mould will be treated, killed and removed, however we cannot guarantee that new mould spores will not appear particularly due to the nature of mould growth as detailed above. We cannot guarantee that our guidelines are being met and/or that the causes have been repaired. Please note that mould within silicone and/or grout is given no guarantee. The best way to get a permanent result in these areas is to replace the grout and/or silicone.
